We both worked in finance for major investment banks and in the same building in Hoboken, NJ. I used to see him on the train and tell my mom I saw the <strong>cute guy</strong> in Bayonne (a town in NJ). Years later, he was at a party, and our friends set us up. 8 years later, here we are. We were <strong>married</strong> a year after we began dating and had our son the following year. It was, has and always has been a <strong>whirlwind</strong>! We were <strong>blessed</strong> with our son one year after we married. It was an <strong>exciting surprise</strong>. It was truly a memorable Christmas because we did our gender reveal with family on Christmas eve.</p> </div> </div>

We love to go to our<b> local diner every Friday </b>when we both are off from work. We do <b>as much as we can as a family</b> when time permits. I love listening to gospel music. It sooths my soul. For fun I joined a theatre group. Omar learned real estate investing and bought his first AirBNB! Our 6 year old is <b>busy</b> with baseball and his social life! Omar is very into <b>mentorships </b>and mindset coaching. I love to write. My passion is truly nursing. It was a dream of mine to become a nurse. I had to give up my dream due to illness and being able to embark on it is all because of my husband who is <b>supportive</b> of any <b>crazy idea </b>I have, like returning to work as a nurse in the height of a pandemic.</p> </div> </div>

Having grown up in NYC, I love the <b>diversity</b> of where I come from. Diversity is rooted in my culture. We try to share and instill these values in our home. <b>Anyone</b> is welcome to our house. We have a home where our door is open and neighbors visit regularly. Our son is very close with his grandparents, aunts and friends who have become family. We love to make traditional foods from our cultures, although Omar would say I make a <b>bit too much</b> Italian cuisine. Every Christmas we make pasteles, a Puerto Rican staple. Neither my husband or myself are Puerto Rican but we truly enjoy trying foods from other cultures and learning how to cook them traditionally. We host a <b>friendsgiving </b>every year with our former coworkers. It truly is my favorite holiday. We try to do a photoshoot yearly if time and weather permits. We have a <b>happy house</b> and it is something we both are so proud of.</p> </div> </div>

Doctors were saying it wasn’t preeclampsia because my liver enzymes were normal and so was my blood pressure. At 28 weeks I switched OB’s and went into NYC to a MFM center in a hospital specializing in <b>high-risk deliveries</b>. I knew my blood pressure was high because I always ran low but my numbers were still within normal limits. My delivery was also <b>exciting</b>. I went into labor about 12 hours before my scheduled c-section! My son was born at 38 weeks and was over 8lbs. He was the <b>cutest little meatball ever</b>. 6 weeks after my son was born, I had a post partum episode, which was when I was diagnosed with <b>post partum eclampsia </b>and probable HELLP syndrome. I spent 2 days in the hospital on a neuro unit. 5 weeks later, out came my gall bladder and began the short road to recovery. 2 years later my thyroid cancer <b>returned</b>. We had decided in 2021 that the stress from my delivery was too much and that if we wanted to conceive again it would be in <b>my best interest to use a surrogate</b>. I am the empath of the family and decided I wanted to advocate for patients. When I had all my complications, I felt that the doctors did not take my concerns seriously. I decided to switch careers and became a nurse. The most rewarding experience has been being the<b> voice</b> of patients to ensure their <b>safety</b>.</p> </div> </div>

<h3 class="elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default">The Biggest Ask SaysThe American Society for Reproductive Medicine provides the following recommendations for evaluation of gestational carriers (i.e., many fertility clinics will require the following for their gestational carriers):
- Carried at least 1 child without complications
- Fewer than 3 deliveries via c-section
- Be within the ages of 21 and 45
- Body mass index in between 19 and 32
- No smoking, abusing drugs, alcohol or prescription medications
- Not receiving welfare, public housing or cash assistance from the government
- Has a stable home life with emotional and child care support
- No mental health conditions requiring the use of medications within the last 6 months (including depression)
- No criminal record

No one likes to talk about surrogate compensation, but it is an important factor in any surrogacy agreement. The following is how we classify high, medium and low compensation (excluding the value of any benefits). Many factors affect surrogate compensation including surrogate experience (e.g., has the woman been a surrogate before?), whether the surrogate is signed up with an agency and surrogate preferences.
- Low = surrogate compensation between $45,000 and $50,000
- Medium = surrogate compensation between $55,000 and $60,000
- High = surrogate compensation greater than $65,000
