We kept it a <strong><b>secret</b></strong> from our co-workers for <strong><b>almost a year</b></strong>. We would meet and catch up in secret in the mail room every day. Rachyl had health issues with endometriosis that caused her to change careers, which also allowed us to surprise our co-workers with the fact that we had been dating for a full year! Jay continued his career in <strong><b>employee benefits sales</b></strong> while Rachyl started <strong><b>business consulting</b></strong>. We got married in 2018 in Sedona, Arizona, where we still visit frequently. We always knew that we wanted to be parents, we just never knew how we would achieve that dream.</p> </div> </div>

<h2> <strong>OUR INTERESTS:</strong></h2><p>One of our favorite things to do together is travel<strong><b>.</b></strong> We’ve been lucky enough to travel to <strong><b>Europe</b></strong> twice. Once to <strong><b>Italy</b></strong> for our honeymoon, and again to <strong><b>England, Germany </b></strong>to visit family in the military and France to see the<strong><b> U.S. Women’s Olympic soccer final!</b></strong> Although those were amazing trips, we love to take shorter weekend trips to some of the smaller mountain towns in Arizona including <strong><b>Prescott, Sedona, and Flagstaff. </b></strong>When in the western cowboy town of Prescott, we love going to the <strong><b>4th of July rodeo, and two-stepping at the historic country bars.</b></strong> Prescott is also known as <strong><b>Arizona’s Christmas city</b></strong>, so we go up every December to see the courthouse square lit up with Christmas lights. Sedona is also a<strong><b> favorite</b></strong> of ours, that is where we got married and love to go there as often as possible. In Sedona, we love to hike, eat at restaurants with great views of the red rock formations, and hang out at the gym and pool resort. <strong><b>Sedona is where we go to relax.</b></strong></p><p>We both work out frequently, whether we are going to the gym or using our home gym. We also love to go for walks in our peaceful neighborhood and at the desert trails near our home.<strong><b> Rachyl loves yoga and Jay loves to play golf. </b></strong></p><p>We both love holidays, decorating the house, and taking that time to spend with family and friends.</p> </div>

<h2>WHAT LED US TO SURROGACY</h2><p>Rachyl had <strong><b>very severe endometriosis </b></strong>starting in high school. She was told by doctors to <strong><b>remove her uterus at age 18</b></strong> due to her condition, but Rachyl didn’t do that because she wanted to <strong><b>hold out hope to have children one day</b></strong>. This came with <strong><b>20 years of constant pain</b></strong>, but it was worth it for that chance of having children. We have been together for 10 years now but have been waiting for Rachyl’s endometriosis to get to a place where we can possibly have children. But ultimately last year, Rachyl <strong><b>didn’t have a choice and had to get her uterus removed</b></strong> for health reasons and we were told IVF likely wouldn’t be a viable option. Although it was very difficult knowing she couldn’t carry a child, <strong><b>her health improved drastically almost immediately</b></strong>. In spite of health challenges, Rachyl has always been driven, hard working, and successful. Her recent health improvements are really allowing her to <strong><b>thrive</b></strong> even more in her career and enjoy life even more. After that, we were in a position of where we needed to get creative to start a family. We went through all of the steps and were <strong><b>approved for adoption </b></strong>but ultimately decided we wanted to give IVF a try to see if we can create embryos and have children with the help of a surrogate. Through one round of IVF, <strong><b>we were blessed with the miracle of retrieving 60 eggs </b></strong>from Rachyl which ultimately became <strong><b>13 good embryos.</b></strong> Although this will be our first child, we plan on using more of those embryos to continue to grow our family. It’s been a very tough road to create and grow a family, but we are so excited and blessed to be at this point of the process and <strong><b>are so grateful to the surrogate who will help us in this journey!</b></strong></p> </div>

<h2>FAMILY, SUPPORT, AND VALUES:</h2><p>We will aim to create a <strong><b>loving, supportive, and joyful </b></strong>environment that allows for creativity without sacrificing the structure a young child needs. Rachyl’s mom, Liza, lives only <strong><b>5 minutes away</b></strong> from us and is so excited to spend as much time with our child as possible. Rachyl’s sister, Tiana, is a pediatrician, her and her husband, Zane, live in Los Angeles, and we frequently get to spend holidays with them. And we <strong><b>plan to take full advantage </b></strong>of having a pediatrician in the family when questions come up! Rachyl has extended family living in Chicago. We get to go visit them and they come visit us somewhat frequently. Jay’s parents live in Texas and visit frequently, <strong><b>definitely more frequently once we have a little one!</b></strong> Jay’s brother, Tyler, is an Air Force Pilot who will be flying commercially based out of Texas with his wife Tiffany and children, Lawrence & Ruby. Lawrence & Ruby are <strong><b>so excited </b></strong>to have a cousin, and have taken it upon themselves to give us baby name recommendations. Jay has extended family in Minnesota.</p><p>We have a <strong><b>core group of friends</b></strong>, some from childhood, that live very close and we see very frequently. They have young children that <strong><b>refer to us as aunt and uncle</b></strong>, and we see our children having that same close relationship with our close friends and their children. We truly believe <strong><b>it takes a loving community to raise a child</b></strong>, so we will surround our child with those family members and friends that can show him/her love and build him/her up! Along with adding more siblings to the family soon!</p> </div>

And <strong><b>to hear about things the surrogate is doing to stay happy, healthy, and to mitigate any stress. </b></strong>Updates after all doctors appointments and any exciting milestones like kicking or moving around! W<strong><b>e’d love to get to know our surrogate before and during pregnancy</b></strong>, frequent text updates are encouraged. We’re looking for a surrogate <strong><b>to be committed to clean/organic eating most of the time. </b></strong>That’s part of our lifestyle that’s important to us, <strong><b>although there is always room to satisfy cravings!</b></strong> We are open to continuing a relationship after the birth if that happens organically.
