OUR STORY:

We lived in the same town during high school, but only started dating once we were in college. We were pursing different things when we began dating, unsure of our life paths. I pursued my degree and then took off to Iceland to learn about my family roots and he traveled around the US playing minor league baseball. But, we always knew we were meant to be together.

In 2010 we got married and have been married 14 years!

In the 14 years we have built an amazing life that we are so fortunate for, and proud of. We have been blessed with with having our oldest two children on our own, and by the gift of surrogacy by a dear friend for our youngest! We work every day to make our home a loving, stable, and supportive home for our children.

OUR INTERESTS:
My husband and I are both teachers, coaches, and mentors for youth in our community. We feel passionate about serving children and our community to make an imprint on as many lives as we can for as long as we can. Teaching at risk youth is a challenge, but is also work of the heart. We also enjoy spending quality time together as a family. We like to take trips to explore as many new places as we can in our time off. We enjoy being in nature, especially at the beach or tucked away in the mountains. And we are in Disney loving family and always down for a Disney trip!

WHAT LED US TO SURROGACY:
The journey to building our family has been beautiful and heart wrenching all at the same time. When we first began trying to have a family in 2015, I suffered a devastating miscarriage at 12 weeks after normal check ups and scans. After, I learned that I was born with a uterine septum that did not have adequate blood flow to sustain a pregnancy. I had to have two uterine surgeries to remove a septum that expanded all the way through my uterus and also to remove extensive endometriosis. In 2016, we were blessed with our first child, a baby girl who lit up our world. In 2018, we were blessed again with our son. We were so grateful for our family and thought our worst heartache was behind us. We decided to try for one more baby to complete our family. In 2020, after a perfect, textbook pregnancy, we found out that our daughter had no heartbeat at 37 weeks. I delivered Veda stillborn, via C-section at 37.5 weeks. It was the most devastating and painful experience we have ever been through and it’s a pain we will carry our entire lives. Our lives have never been the same after this profound loss. Explaining to our two living children about their sister who died was so confusing and heartbreaking. We knew our hearts still desired another child so we decided to set fear aside and pull together whatever strength we had left to try again for another baby. I fell pregnant again and the pregnancy was fine until it wasn’t. After 16 weeks of pregnancy, due to a rare complication, we lost this baby girl too. The doctor said “ we had been struck by lightning twice”. Another heart break, another loss, and another uterine surgery. My team of doctors believed it was no longer a safe option for me to carry another baby. This is when we decided to pursue IVF and surrogacy.

Veda, still born, 06/29/20

HOPES AND DREAMS FOR OUR FUTURE CHILD:
Our hopes are for another child to grow up in our home with his or her older siblings who would love, adore, and walk along side this child through life. Our child will always know their worth and be loved and accepted for exactly who they are. We dream of the chance to love and raise another child in our home and we are hopeful there is someone out there who may want to help us with this incredible gift.

FAMILY ENVIRONMENT:
Our family is made up of so much love. We have faced so much heartache and loss when building our family, that the gift of our children will never be taken for granted for any moment. Although we are blessed with living children that are our entire world, we feel that we still have so much love to give to another child if we are given that opportunity again.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A MATCH:
We have been so fortunate to experience first hand how beautiful surrogacy can be, and hope to have an open relationship where we communicate often with a life long connection.

EXTRA INFORMATION
Names: Katie & Jacob
Location: Modesto, CA
Number of Embryos: 4 PGS Tested
Agency/Management Team: The Biggest Ask
Fertility Clinic: Laurel Fertility
Surrogate Compensation: Medium/High
Requirements: ASRM guidelines
